We work with Newcastle City Council to provide a range of free online services to support you, in addition to what is already on offer.

Local support services with Newcastle Carers

Newcastle Carers supports carers living across Newcastle. The support they offer
includes:

  • Carers information line
  • Drop-in advice sessions and appointments
  • Local carer support groups
  • Counselling
  • Complementary therapy
  • Carers Wellbeing Fund to enable carers to improve their health and wellbeing
  • Tailored support for young adult carers aged 18-25 including free travel pass
  • A range of support for Young Carers aged 5-18 including one-to-one support
    and social activities.

The British Red Cross Carers Emergency Contact Scheme

The British Red Cross Carers Emergency Contact Scheme is a free service, so the person you care for can be looked after if you have a personal crisis such as, an illness, accident or emergency.  Your plan is kept safe and put into action in an emergency. You are given:

  • Help to write your emergency contact plan so they know what support the
    person you care for needs.
  • A card to carry so other people and emergency services, know you’re a
    carer and someone relies on you
Even if you already have an emergency plan with a friend, relative or neighbour, it’s
a good idea to register.

InformationNOW

InformationNOW is the information website for people living, working or caring for someone in Newcastle. You can find lots of helpful information for carers such as:
